The Skins Healing Process – Phase 1

Phase 1: Haemostasis Phase

Haematosis is the first stage of the healing process and begins when an injury occurs and starts immediately to impact on the wound.   The process begins with the activation of the blood clotting system. This occurs when blood platelets react with existing collagen (this is called activation and aggregation) thrombin (an enzyme) causes the “development” of fibrin mesh which by strengthening the platelet clumps which allows for a more stable and effective clot to form.
