Quadratus lumborum

Lower part of the back and buttocks

Extends the hip and rotates the thigh

Gluteus Medius

Lateral part of the buttocks behind the gluteus maximus

Abducts and rotates the thigh

Gluteus minimus

Lateral part of the buttocks below the gluteus maximus

Abducts and rotates the thigh

Piriformis

Posterior pelvis. Attaches to the anterior of the sacrum and the top of the femur

Rotates the hip and abducts the thigh

Psoas

Lumbar region of the spine and across the hip.

Flexes the hip.

Iliacus

Crosses the hip, attached to the iliac crest and the inside of the top of the femur

Flexes and rotates the thigh
